Sergeant Drummer Thomas Saunders born in Portsmouth in 1850 enlisted in the Scots Guards age just 14 height listed as 4 feet 4 inches
Drummer by 1882, Lance Corporal March 1888. Transfered to the Kings Own scottish Borderers in 1892. Sergeant by 1893. Later as super numeray duty Liqour Sergeant. Transfered back to Scots Guards in 1904. Discharged in 1911 after serving 32 years and 104 days.
Abroad 11 years 274 days; Egypt, Cyprus and East Indies
Held second class certificate of Education Character and conduct listed as Exemplary. Thoroughly sober and reliable and trustworthy and has been a most excellent drum Major.
Married Laura Amelia Gregory at Cawnpore on 2nd January 1900; brought on married establishment that date. When discharged listed India as intended place of residence with wife Army School Mistress
